Understanding Tooth Staining
To understand how our whitening system works, it’s helpful to know the two main types of stains:
1. Extrinsic Stains
- These are surface stains that form on the outside of the tooth enamel, caused by coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, and certain foods.
- Extrinsic stains can often be removed with a professional scale and polish at the dentist.
2. Intrinsic Stains
- Beneath the enamel is the dentine, which gives teeth their colour.
- Over time, dark molecules from food, drinks, and tobacco penetrate through the enamel and stain the dentine, leading to yellowing and discolouration.
How Our Whitening System Works
